In Memory of
LOUISA LAURIE 1818 - 1892
Born in New South Wales where she married John Laurie, Louisa was a pioneer at Weymouth. She raised a large family, having her first child at the age of 16 and the last at the age of 46.
Although she had a large family, which at one stage occupied most of Weymouth, many died young or tragically, Her daughter Matilda married Nicholas Gibbons and they eventually acquired much of the land owned by her brothers and sisters.
Louisa's daughter Martha Ann died at Weymouth in 1883 and it is likely that she was buried at this spot where her mother was eventually buried.
